Industrial Hard Chrome Plating

Hard chromium electroplating is our flagship service and the foundation of our business for over 50 years. Unlike decorative chrome, industrial hard chrome is applied in thicker deposits specifically engineered for functional performance—providing exceptional wear resistance, corrosion protection, and the ability to restore worn components to their original dimensions.

Our plating process deposits dense, uniform chromium layers that significantly extend the service life of critical machinery components. Whether you need to protect new parts from wear or rebuild damaged surfaces, our hard chrome plating delivers consistent, reliable results.

  • Wear resistance for high-friction applications
  • Corrosion protection in harsh environments
  • Dimensional restoration of worn components
  • Low coefficient of friction surfaces
  • Plating to AMS 2406, AMS-QQ-C-320, and other specs
  • Deposit thicknesses from 0.0001" to 0.030"+ as required

Cylindrical Grinding (OD Grinding)

Precision cylindrical grinding is essential for achieving the tight tolerances and superior surface finishes demanded by modern industrial applications. Our OD grinding capabilities allow us to finish chrome-plated surfaces to exact specifications, as well as prepare parts before plating or machine components independently of our plating services.

Using modern cylindrical grinders, our experienced operators achieve dimensional tolerances and surface finishes that meet the most demanding engineering requirements. We work with shafts, rolls, cylinders, pistons, spindles, and a wide variety of round components.

  • Tight dimensional tolerances (tenths capability)
  • Surface finishes to specification (Ra/RMS values)
  • Grinding of chrome-plated surfaces
  • Pre-plate and post-plate grinding
  • Large diameter and long shaft capacity
  • Taper, profile, and straight grinding

Internal Grinding (ID Grinding)

Internal grinding addresses the precision finishing needs of bores, sleeves, bushings, and other components with critical internal surfaces. Our ID grinding services deliver the dimensional accuracy and surface quality required for proper fit and function in demanding applications.

Whether you need to finish a plated bore to final size or grind an internal diameter to precise tolerances, our internal grinding capabilities complement our plating and OD grinding services to provide complete part finishing solutions.

  • Precision bore finishing
  • Sleeve and bushing grinding
  • Chrome-plated ID finishing
  • Tight tolerance ID work
  • Consistent surface finish quality

Turning Services

Our turning capabilities support both pre-plate preparation and standalone machining requirements. Lathe turning allows us to remove material, create features, and prepare surfaces for subsequent plating or grinding operations.

For parts that arrive with excess material, damage, or improper geometry, turning operations ensure the substrate is properly prepared before chrome deposition. We can also perform turning as a standalone service for cylindrical machining needs.

  • Pre-plate material removal
  • Substrate preparation for plating
  • OD and face turning
  • Cylindrical workpiece machining
  • Repair and rework operations

Polishing & Superfinishing

When applications demand the highest surface quality, our polishing and superfinishing services deliver mirror-like finishes and extremely low surface roughness values. These processes are ideal for hydraulic components, seal surfaces, and any application where surface finish is critical to performance.

Polishing removes microscopic peaks and valleys left by grinding, while superfinishing takes surface quality even further. The result is reduced friction, improved sealing, and extended component life in demanding service conditions.

  • Mirror finish polishing
  • Superfinishing for ultra-low Ra values
  • Hydraulic cylinder rod finishing
  • Seal surface preparation
  • Friction reduction finishing
  • Custom surface finish specifications

Chrome Stripping

Chrome stripping is the controlled removal of existing chromium deposits from previously plated parts. This service is essential when components need to be replated due to wear, damage, incorrect dimensions, or quality issues with the original plating.

Our stripping process removes chrome completely without damaging the base metal, allowing parts to be properly prepared and replated to specification. We also strip parts that were plated elsewhere when customers need rework or correction.

  • Complete chrome removal
  • Base metal preservation
  • Preparation for replating
  • Correction of dimensional issues
  • Rework of previously plated parts
  • Stripping of competitor-plated components
